Queens Botanical Garden, 43-50 Main Street in Flushing, Queens This program will feature music commissioned by the Quintet and will include the New York City Premiere of the late composer James Cohn’s Klezmer Fantasy (2019). Mr. Cohn passed away in June of this year. Other works will be Mannahatta Windows (2010) by Robert Deemer, Music for Bayside (2013) by Lembit Beecher, Mañanita (1977) by Jorge Olaya Muñoz, Retrospectives (2015) by Harold Gutiérrez and Echoes From a Distant Land (1983) by José Raul Bernardo. Performers will be Carlos Aguilar, flute; Matt Sullivan, oboe; David Valbuena, clarinet: Alexander Davis, bassoon and Barbara Oldham, horn. The September 26 event is free with Botanical Garden admission (Adults $6, Seniors (age 62+) $4, Students $4, Children (ages 4 to 12) $2, Children (age 3 and under – FREE). This event is first-come, first-served with limited seating. Botanical Garden members are free. Quintet of the Americas 40 Years of Commissioning Quintet of the Americas presents a concert of past performances of selections chosen from over 100 pieces commissioned in the last 40 years. The first of several of these concerts, this one features Te sorprende? 2:37 and Provincianita 1:00:30 by Jorge Olaya Muñoz, Mannahatta Windows by Robert Deemer 7:23, A Hug for Pixinga by Gaudencio Thiago de Mello 18:24, Music for Bayside by Lembit Beecher 27:10, Arkansas Reel by James Cohn 36:56, Dream Song from Vision III by Judith Sainte Croix 43:45, and Variable Winds by Daniel Ott 49:20. Latin American Culture Week 2020 |

We are honored to be part of this year's Latin America Culture Week in New York City. We will be presenting a virtual video concert featuring the World Premiere of The Year 2020 by world renowned Uruguayan-American composer and conductor José Serebrier and Retropectives which we commissioned in 2015 by Colombian-American Harold Gutiérrez. All of the CACW 2020 events will be available for viewing online 24 hours a day at Tickets are only $5.00 and will be required for each event. In response to the global Covid-19 pandemic and its effects on live performance, participating artists will receive 90% of all ticket sales. We hope you all stay healthy and safe!
